Tangier - Burchard Cox, 70, who had lived all his life in Tangier, died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born May 17, 1894, in Tangier to Robert L. and Melisse Keller Cox. He was married to Ruth Norris July 6, 1921. He worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Ill., and farmed. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Christian Church and Old Guard Post No. 2395 in Covington. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Tom of Covington, Jerry of Tangier and Richard of Indianapolis; a daughter Mrs. Betty McMasters of Tangier; two brothers, Mote of Rockville and Lee of Covington; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Massey of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Maus Kormalris of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Leannah Summers of San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Davies-Tudor Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. James O. Trusdale will officiate. Burial will be in Tangier Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Fellenzer Post No. 48 of the American Legion at Rockville will perform graveside rites. Marshall - Funeral services were held at the Davies-Tudor Funeral Home for Burchard Cox, 70, of Tangier. The services were in charge of Rev. James O. Truesdale. Pallbearers, who also assisted with the flowers, were Ivan Catterson, Roy Frazier, Robert Yater, Fred Pickard, Robert Jackson, Paul Newnum, Bill Milligan and Robert Norris. Burial was in Tangier Cemetery with graveside rites by Fellenzer American Legion Post 48 of Rockville.
